Woodsia subcordata
If you’re into cute little green things…other than liverworts and Kermit dolls…we’ve got the fern for you. This little-known, deciduous Asian fern has quickly become one of our favorite dwarfs for the woodland rock garden or gnome village. W. subcordata makes an easy-to-grow, small, 6″ tall clump of fuzzy, upright, light green fronds. Be sure not to place it where it will get hidden by more aggressive plant neighbors or stepped on by stampeding gnomes.
