Oxalis lobata
(syn: O. perdicaria) This high elevation (~8000′) native to Chile and Bolivia has proven to be a perfect rock garden plant. Being from the southern hemisphere, it emerges for us in late September, making a small, 2″ tall x 4″ wide clump. The clump is smothered for months with 1/2″ wide, brilliant yellow flowers that stop visitors in their tracks. This is not a weedy oxalis…no running or seeding. In April, the clump goes dormant until fall. In colder climates, O. lobata makes a stunning container plant that can be enjoyed indoors during the fall holidays.
