Musa Rajapuri
Musa ‘Rajapuri’ is one of our favorites of the cold hardy bananas and it actually produces an edible, good tasting banana. M. ‘Rajapuri’ only reaches 8′ tall, but it is twice as wide due to the giant tropical green leaves. M. ‘Rajapuri’, which is a midget by banana standards, makes up for its small stature by being able to flower in only 9 months, compared with 18 months for most varieties. Here in Zone 7, we recommend caging the trunk in the fall and filling the cage with shredded leaves for winter protection.
