Mangave Catch a Wave PP 29723
xMangave ‘Catch a Wave’ is a 2017 release of the bi-generic agave x manfreda hybrids from plant breeder extraordinaire Hans Hansen at Walters Gardens. This amazing cross of Agave gypsophila ssp. pablocarrilloi, Agave colorata, and Manfreda maculosa produces a 20″ tall x 30″ wide specimen of rubbery, glaucous blue, incredibly wavy leaves which angle upwards at 45 degrees. The foliage is heavily spotted maroon, which contrasts nicely with the highly visible silvery-grey leaf backs. The small spines are composed of a highly-advanced hard rubber product, so are quite touchable…a superb container specimen.
