Mangave Blue Dart
xMangave ‘Blue Dart’ is a 2017 Walters Gardens introduction that combines the genes from the Mexican Agave macroacantha and the Baja native Agave shawii with the Texas native Manfreda maculosa. The result is a plant that looks exactly like a blue agave, but is dramatically faster growing. xMangave ‘Blue Dart’ forms a perfectly symmetrical 16″ tall x 30″ wide blue leaved specimen with lovely cinnamon terminal teeth and matching eyelash-looking armor down the leaf edges. The nicely offsetting xMangave ‘Blue Dart’ is a quick way to fill a summer container, where it isn’t winter hardy in the ground.
