Hosta Kim She
Hosta ‘Kim She’ is a 1999 seedling that we’re just getting around to introducing in 2018. Every spring, we keep looking at each other wondering why we haven’t introduced this yet…sooo! Hosta ‘Kim She’ represents quite a line of one night stands including baby-mommas and baby-daddies Hosta longipes, yingeri, sieboldiana, ‘Harvest Dandy’, ‘Swoosh’, ‘Green Fountain’, and ‘Hirao Splendor’. The durable 8″ tall x 27″ wide clump is composed of pleated green leaves, edged with a wide border of gold, that ages to creamy white. The leaf petioles are dark purple toward the base, which color echo well with the dark purple flower scape that rises to 2′, starting for us in mid-August. So, you’re probably wondering why we named her ‘Kim She’. Good question…well, we threw in hosta genes from just about everything we had at the time, and if she sat here much longer, she’d be liable to spoil.
