Helleborus sternii
Helleborus x sternii is a hard to find evergreen hybrid of Helleborus argutifolius x Helleborus lividus that resembles Helleborus argutifolius in it’s stemmed form, and with toothed edges to the silver-mottled, trifoliate leaves. From the Helleborus lividus genes, the hybrid has a shorter stature, usually 1-1.5′ in height. In late winter, the clumps are topped with 6″ terminal flower stalks of light green bell like flowers flushed with pink. Helleborus x sternii is a superb addition for winter interest in the woodland garden…good drainage is essential.
