Cyrtomium fortunei var intermedia Green Tea
(Cyrtomium T463-05) Cyrtomium fortunei ‘Green Tea’ is a unique form of Fortune’s holly fern that we named in 2014. Our original plant originated from a Chinese nursery known for importing incorrectly named plants…ours came as Arthromeris. Our fern actually keys out to Cyrtomium fortunei var. intermedia, but it’s dramatically different from any form of this we’ve ever grown. We suspect, when someone gets around to doing good taxonomic work on Cyrtomium, this may become a new species. In the meantime, Cyrtomium ‘Green Tea’ makes a very tight, upright-growing, 20″ tall clump of fronds, each clothed in thick, glossy, dark green leaves. Cyrtomium ‘Green Tea’ has been superb in our garden since 2005, so we are delighted to share nursery spore-grown plants for the first time.
