Cypripedium Michael
Cypripedium ‘Michael’, which is a 1998 Werner Frosch introduction, named for cypripedium grower Michael Weinert, has been one of our best garden performers in the heat and humidity, despite its reported preference for alkaline soils. Cypripedium ‘Michael’ is a small-growing hybrid created from a cross of two Chinese native species, Cypripedium henryi and Cypripedium macranthos. The 10-12″ tall stalks, adorned with pleated green leaves, are topped in late spring with a stunning purple and white pouch, backed by three dramatically striped purple and white sepals. Our offerings are all nursery-propagated, flowering-sized plants.
