Aucuba japonica var borealis Honshu
Aucuba japonica var. borealis ‘Honshu’ is a female clone of aucuba that was originally collected in a very cold, high-snowfall region of Honshu, Japan, and subsequently named and introduced by our friends at Camellia Forest. Aucuba japonica ‘Honshu’ makes a 4′ tall x 6′ wide compact clump in 10 years. Each clump of Aucuba japonica ‘Honshu’ is clothed with 6″ long x 1.5″ wide, serrated, glossy, evergreen leaves. If you grow this near a male aucuba, you’ll enjoy a nice crop of bright red fruit in winter.
