Astilbe chinensis Amber Moon PP 26028
The year was 1997 when we first saw Astilbe ‘Amber Moon’ in the garden of its creator, Darrell Probst. Despite desperately trying to get it into cultivation earlier, a series of horticultural mishaps delayed its official introduction. We are pleased to present this amazing gold foliage selection of the heat-tolerant Astilbe chinensis. Astilbe chinensis ‘Amber Moon’ makes a 30″ tall x 18″ wide clump of golden foliage which emerges brightest in spring when each leaf also sports a narrow red edge. In June (NC), the clumps are topped with 30″ spikes of pink bottlebrush-like flowers. Moist soils and part sun are best.
