Aspidistra pulchella S135 07
We are pleased to introduce another rare Chinese species of aspidistra, A. pulchella, to cultivation. Each short but broad leaf (3″ wide x 10″ tall) makes a tight clump similar to other aspidistra species. Occasionally, the leaves have a light yellow speckling. The cool thing about this aspidistra is that it flowers in midsummer (late June in NC). Each flower that lies on the soil resembles a 1.5″ wide, miniature pepperoni pizza…I’m not making this up. You’re sure to be the life of the party with your Aspidistra pulchella by your side.
