Agave Tradewinds
(aka: Agave potatorum ‘Variegata’) This exotic variegated century plant is probably a seedling from Agave ‘Kissho Kan’. The symmetrical 12″ tall x 15″ wide rosette has a darker, more glossy blue leaf than Agave ‘Kissho Kan’ but is bordered with a similar creamy white border. Unlike Agave ‘Kissho Kan’, the spines emerge cinnamon red and remain that color. I have purchased it both as a selection of Agave potatorum and Agave parryi, both of which it is not. We have named it after the late John Lucas’s Tradewinds Nursery, seemingly the first to import this new succulent into the US from Thailand.
