Agave protamericana Grey Gator
Agave ‘Grey Gator’ is a 2024 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a selection we made in 2007 of the naturally-occurring hybrid between Agave asperrima x Agave x pseudoferox. Agave ‘Grey Gator’ makes a huge 5′ tall x 8′ wide clump of long scabrous (sandpaper-like), deeply-channeled (not the Shirley MacLaine type) grey leaves with an upturned long black-spined tip. This has been a good offsetting clone, producing a decent amount of offspring to share or sell. We have not seen any winter damage into the mid-single digits F.
