Agave Crazy Horse
Agave ‘Crazy Horse’ is an amazing large-growing, winter hardy century plant that has thrived for us since 2006. Our plant comes from Texan Shawn Stegent, who discovered it growing at a Montgomery County, Texas real estate office around 2000. For us, our seventeen-year old patch has produced 3.5′ tall x 5′ wide rosettes that offset quite fast, but remain tightly clustered around the base. The 9″ wide, flat, blue-green, deeply-lobed, dorsally-banded leaves are particularly architectural. Based on observations by plantsman Daniel Serrano, we now believe Agave ‘Crazy Horse’ to be a hybrid of Agave cupreata and Agave asperrima.
