Adiantum caudatum coll TLC 008
This little-known walking maidenhair fern species is from a 1999 Todd Lasseigne collection in China’s Cang Shan mountains near the town of Dali. This is a particularly narrow leaf selection, with fronds that for us never exceed 1″ in width, while reaching 1′ in length. For us, this deciduous fern reemerges in June with pink-tinged new growth that changes to green. As the fronds on the 3″ tall clump mature, new plantlets form where the tips touch well-prepared soil.
