Agave geminiflora Leaping Lizards
Agave geminiflora ‘Leaping Lizards’ is a 2018 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a Monterey Bay Nursery discovery of a variegated mutation of the narrow-leaf Agave geminiflora. Each of 100+ (when mature) narrow, flexible, green, pointy-tipped leaves are edged with a creamy yellow border, resulting in an amazingly beautiful rosette. Agave geminiflora, which hails from 3,000′-4,000′ in rocky oak woodlands in the western Mexican state of Nayarit, is a non-offsetting species, so having any to share is quite a propagation feat. Agave geminiflora ‘Leaping Lizards’ forms a 20″ tall x 3′ wide rosette…a splendid selection for a patio container, but being a woodland species, it prefers a bit more water during the growing season than other century plant species when grown in more sun.
