Yucca necopina
Yucca necopina is a newly described soapwort with a narrow distribution from a four county range of sandy soils near Dallas, Texas. Yucca necopina was originally thought to be a natural hybrid of Yucca arkansana and Yucca pallida until DNA proved otherwise. The 2′ tall x 2′ wide rosettes of green leaves are adorned with curly threads along the edges. The Brazos River soapwort is topped in summer with 9′ tall, branched flower spikes, laden with white bell-shaped flowers. Yucca necopina is closely related to Yucca louisianensis.
