Polygonatum odoratum Prince Charming PP 22304
Polygonatum ‘Prince Charming’ is as unusual as it is beautiful. From Illinois nurseryman/plant breeder, Brent Horvath, this selection was patented as an interspecific hybrid, but thanks to DNA testing by Dr. Aaron Floden, we now know it is actually a selection of the European form of Polygonatum odoratum. Polygonatum ‘Prince Charming’ makes an amazing, tightly bunched, heavy flowering clump of 15″ tall stems, adorned, starting for us in late April with hundreds of pendant white flowers that morph into beautiful blue fruit in autumn…a superb specimen in the open woodland or morning sun.
