Trillium lancifolium coll A2FL 013
(aka: Trillium lancifolium A2FL-013) A botanizing highlight was tromping in the Florida panhandle with legendary native plantsman, the late Angus Gholsen in 2003. Angus took me to a very southern population of Trillium lancifolium in Gadsden County, Florida, where the leaves were heavily patterned silver and olive. Additionally, the flower petal color emerged purple, and age to chartreuse toward the tips….some plants have more red and some more yellow. These are 4-5 year old flowering sized, nursery-propagated seedlings, so each will be different. Trillium lancifolium ‘Gasden’ is a vigorous strain, although they do not offset as fast as many of our other accessions.
