Athyrium thelypteroides
(syn: Deparia acrostichoides) Athyrium thelypteroides is a Southeastern US native that makes a wonderfully easy-to-grow, deer-resistant, 2′ tall specimen with fronds that can reach 4′ in length. When grown in moist conditions and rich soils, silver glade fern form a 3′ wide clump in 5 years. The common name of silver glade fern comes from the color of the leaf underside, arising from the developing spores.
