Epimedium zhushanense
We are so excited to be able to finally share the true, rare Epimedium zhushanense, hailing from near Zhushan in China’s Hubei province. Published as a new species in 1985, Epimedium zhushanense is an amazing plant, with large spiny evergreen foliage that is topped, starting in early April (NC), with upright arching flower spikes of huge Epimedium acuminatum-like flowers…dark purple spurs backed by mauvy-pink sepals…truly scrumptious! Epimedium zhushanense is truly a stunning clump-forming fairy wing in the woodland garden.
