Musa Picasso
Musa ‘Picasso’ is a name we gave to a previously unnamed group of hybrid seedlings from a cross of Musa laeterita x Musa sikkimensis that came to us originally as seed from India. For us, Musa ‘Picasso’ is one of the shortest of the hardy bananas, topping out for us at 12′ tall. The leaves are a lovely green with dark purple streaks, while the back of the leaves emerge a nice cinnamon red. Based on the parentage, we would expect Musa ‘Picasso’ to be winter hardy to about 5 degrees F, but that’s an educated guess at this point. If you’re into hardy bananas and like experimentation, then Musa ‘Picasso’ is for you.
