Zephyranthes flavissima
Zephyranthes flavissima is a South American rain lily that’s one of those can’t-miss plants for the blackest of thumbs. The semi-evergreen clump of rounded, needle-thin, glossy green foliage makes a small clump to 1′ wide. Beginning in early summer and continuing into early fall, Zephyranthes flavissima is topped with beautiful 1″ wide, golden star-shaped flowers…great en masse or as a feature in the rock garden. Zephyranthes flavissima naturally grows in a riverine (along a river) environment, so it performs best in moist or regular acidic garden soil…this one does not like alkalinity.
